Typically used with Cat5E, this modular plug is designed for use with round, solid cable. It has gold plated three-prong pins that sandwich the conductors to ensure a tight fit. This connector also incorporates a straight-line conductor design that is common in Cat5e applications as opposed to the staggered nature typically found in Cat6. This means that assembling patch cables is much faster than having to make Cat6 cables.
